Claremount is a church strong on fellowship in the Methodist Tradition. We don’t have a Sunday School running alongside the morning service but we welcome young families and have a play area with quiet toys at the back of the church. We also have a very well supported monthly Messy Church to which parents are invited alongside their children. About half of the congregation are involved in this mission; welcoming, teaching crafts (often weird and wonderful), cooking and serving the community meal, or maybe coming at the end to help with the big clean up after the event. It’s a fabulous event which we all love.

Our morning service sees a variety of preachers: maybe one of our ministers Revd. Viv Gasteen or Dcn. Peter Reast, however, often we enjoy visiting local preachers and regular services led by one of our two worship teams. Like most churches the hymns and visual effects are projected these days and the singing is often led by our own singing group.

In the week ours is a very well used building with members attending art classes, exercise classes, bowls and singing groups. There is a very well attended toddler group where parents and carers can sit and chat while their babies learn to relate to other children. We have all the usual uniformed organisations from beavers and rainbows through cubs, brownies, guides etc. See the Activities page for more information

We have recently opened a social supermarket that we intend will provide a necessary community service. For further information and opening times follow the link by clicking here.

At the end of the day of course, we are a church. Worship and contemplation of our great but unseen God takes place on Sunday mornings (10.30 am – Main Entrance), Sunday evening (6.30 pm – Sandy Lane Entrance(*)) and Wednesday morning (11.00 am – Sandy Lane Entrance(*) (but do come at 10.30 am for coffee before the service if you’re coming)). A regular Bible study group meets during the week (at members homes) and a monthly Prayer Breakfast takes place at the church. Everyone is welcome to any service or Bible Study group. Post on our facebook page  or use our contact form if you need more details or feel unsure about coming on your own (somebody will be available to meet you).
